Access Statement

Please find outlined below information we hope will ensure you enjoy your visit to St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment or specific learning difficulty.

Prior to your arrival

• We are 5 minutes walk from St Austell Railway station and Bus Station. The Brewery is set on a steep hill so you may prefer to travel by taxi from the station. Taxis are plentiful at the station during peak times. However please contact the Visitor Centre if you would like us to book a taxi in advance.
• We are a 30 minute drive from Newquay Airport and a 1 hour drive from Plymouth Airport.
• Directions to the Visitor Centre can be found on our website www.staustellbrewery.co.uk
• The Visitor Centre is signposted in St Austell with brown tourist roadside signs.

On arrival at the St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre provides a large free-of-charge customer car park with a designated disabled parking area.

Entrance to the Visitor Centre is by way of an exterior metal staircase. Customers who are unable to or prefer not to use the staircase may ring the doorbell at the foot of the stairs and will be guided or helped to an alternative entrance which is suitable for a wheelchair.

Visitor Centre bar, museum and shop

The floor is level floorboards and suitable for wheelchairs.

There is a ramp with a gentle slope from the shop and bar to the museum.

Toilets

Our disabled toilet and baby change facilities are located in the museum and are easily accessed from all parts of the Visitor Centre.

Guided Brewery Tours

The hour long guided tour of the Victorian Brewery includes steep staircases, low ceilings, proximity to hot pipes and wet floors. For this reason it is inappropriate for people with physical disabilities or some medical conditions.

Children under 8 are not permitted on the tour while older children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

All customers taking the tour are advised to wear flat shoes.

As beer is a food product, we ask that customers do not take the tour if they are suffering from colds or other contageous illnesses. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for you to take the guided tour please contact us beforehand on 01726 66022 and one of the Visitor Centre team will be happy to advise you.

Service dogs

Service dogs (only) are welcome into the Visitor Centre Shop, Bar and Museum. However no dogs (including Service dogs) are permitted on the guided Brewery tour.

Evacuation

In the event of an evacuation the alarm bells will ring continuously. You will be shown / escorted to the nearest emergency exit. Please note there is a test fire alarm each Friday morning at 10am on which occasion you will not be required to evacuate the Visitor Centre.
