Three generations celebrate 50 years at the helm of historic Hayle pub

Bucket of Blood Family smallSt Austell Brewery’s longest serving tenant will this month celebrate an impressive half a century behind the bar.

Rick Shackelton has been at the Bucket of Blood in Phillack, Hayle, since 1963 when his parents Dick and Ida took over the unusually named 18th century pub.

Rick and his wife Sue are joined by son Philip, who looks after things when they are away, and Philip’s 21-year-old daughter Alannah who helps out behind the bar.
