Pubs in Cornwall will be rallying up their regulars to compete in the county's largest music pub quiz on Wednesday March 25 in aid of Cornish Hospice Care.
The battle will be broadcast live on Atlantic FM from the Great Western Hotel in Newquay and from pubs across the county.
The event is being supported by St Austell Brewery Pubs throughout Cornwall and will help raise valuable funds for the county's two adult hospices - Mount Edgcumbe and St. Julia's - through the St Austell Brewery's Charitable Trust.
From the smooth sounds of rhythm and blues through to the swinging sixties and on to the toe tapping tunes of 90's Brit Pop, pubs teams will be battling it out to be crowned as the most music-savvy in Cornwall.
Pubs taking part will be relying on the support of their locals to make up the teams of six people to test their musical knowledge in a fun packed charity evening. Entry to the quiz is just £1 per person and as well as a prize for the winning team, there is also a prize up for grabs for the funniest team name.
Jeremy Mitchell, Head of Marketing, St Austell Brewery, said: "We are hoping the pub pop quiz will be a fantastic evening that will help raise much needed funds for Cornwall's hospices. The event will be a great opportunity for customers young and old to come together and combine their musical knowledge to win the accolade of being Cornwall's most tuned in quiz team."
Sarah Snell, PR Manager for the charity, said; "This is a great way to enjoy a drink at your local, join in the fun of a quiz and support a local charity - we are extremely grateful to St. Austell Brewery for raising funds to support our patients and their families."
The pub quiz will include four rounds and will be broadcast live by Atlantic FM from the Great Western Hotel in Newquay. Atlantic FM will also have presenters reporting back from a selection of pubs around the county including The Lifeboat, St Ives, The William IV in Truro and the Shipwrights in Padstow.
