Less than two years since taking over the Jubilee Inn, Pelynt, landlords, Charlie and Carole Edgeler are celebrating making it into the Good Pub Guide 2010.
Gaining entry in the book, which is Britain's number one guide to the UK’s best pubs, is the latest recognition for the couple, and comes after a series of awards and accolades achieved since they took over the south-east Cornwall inn.
Charlie and Carole took the reins of the Jubilee Inn in Autumn 2007 and their warm welcome and reputation for serving great food and ales has made it a hub for the community and a must–visit pub for visitors to the area. The Jubilee was recently awarded a Four Star status by Visit Britain/Quality in Tourism and it also won the Best Marketing Business Award at the annual St Austell Brewery Tribute awards.
The Good Pub Guide features some of the best pubs in the country that offer the complete pub experience – good beer, location, food and comfort. All the pubs are selected and reviewed by CAMRA's 100,000 members and the judges look at the pub’s atmosphere, and its ability to make someone who has never visited before feel like it’s their local.
Charlie Edgeler, landlord at the Jubilee Inn, said: “The whole team has worked very hard over the last few months and entry to the Good Pub Guide 2010 really is something we’re all immensely proud of.
“We enjoy hosting regular events and charity fundraisers, bringing people together in the local community. We’re lucky to have a solid team behind us who support our ambitions to maintain the highest possible standards. Together we make the Jubilee somewhere that locals and visitors can expect the same high level of service each time they visit. Special thanks to our bar manager, Tim Radcliffe, who has worked really hard to maintain the very best standards in the cellar to ensure visitors can enjoy their pints in the best possible condition.”
