Award winning landlady takes over the William

Steph01One of the UK pub industry’s rising young stars has taken over the reins at St Austell Brewery’s popular William IV pub, in Truro.

Award-winning licensee Stephanie Todd, has high hopes for the William after gaining national recognition for the way she ran her first St Austell Brewery pub on the Isles of Scilly.

It earned 23-year old Stephanie the award for Newcomer of the Year, in The Publican Awards 2009 - the ultimate pub industry accolade for someone quickly making their mark on the industry. Judges praised Stephanie for her ‘enthusiasm, creative energy and determination’ in transforming and managing the Atlantic Inn, on St Mary’s.

It’s an energy and drive she has brought with her to the William IV and, despite having just arrived, Stephanie has already introduced live music every Friday, a quiz night every Thursday and launched a new Sunday carvery.

Stephanie said: “It’s fantastic to be in Truro and I really want to get the William firmly on the map for its food and entertainment. We’ve already launched a new entertainment programme and hope the live music every Friday will go down well with regulars and attract new visitors to the pub.

“In the New Year we’ll be launching a new menu which will have an emphasis on wholesome, home cooked food, which is locally sourced. We’re also having a new pizza oven installed so we can offer delicious fresh stone baked pizzas.”

Adam Luck, Estate Director for St Austell Brewery, said: “Stephanie is a highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented person and we’re confident she and the team will do a really great job at making the William one of Cornwall’s most popular pubs. Steph has already got off to a flying start and visitors to the pub should expect even more good things in the New Year.”
