Performers took to the stage to raise much needed funds for local charities in a three-day feast of entertainment at a north Cornwall village.
A cheque for £664.16 has been handed over to the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust by Perceval Entertainers in St Minver, who raised the money at their annual variety show.
Every year, villagers come together to put on a three-day show with the proceeds going to local charities and this year, St Austell Brewery's Charitable Trust - which supports charities across the South West - was the chosen beneficiary. The Perceval Entertainers have been established for more than five years, and bring together all ages of the St Minver community for the show, which features acts ranging from singing and dancing to comedians.
John Treglowen, Sales Senior Sales Development Manager for St Austell Brewery, who collected the cheque on behalf of St Austell Brewery's Charitable Trust, said: "The Trust relies entirely on the kindness of groups just like the Perceval Entertainers who give up their time to raise valuable funds. I'm delighted to be able to collect a cheque for over £660 and would like to thank everyone in the Entertainers on behalf of the Trust."
The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust was set up to act independently to the brewery with the aim of raising and donating funds to good causes and local charities within the St Austell Brewery trading area, which covers the whole of Cornwall and also includes Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
Since its launch in 2003, the Trust has raised more than £155,000 for charities across the region. This year, the Charitable Trusts main beneficiary is Cornwall Hospice Care, but many other local charities will benefit from the continued funds raised throughout 2009.
