Brewery throws open its doors to locals

VC_Locals_weekendLive in Cornwall and fancy a beer on us this weekend? St Austell Brewery is throwing open the doors of its popular visitor centre to locals on September 25 and 26.

And as part of a series of special discounts and promotions, visitors will be offered a free pint or glass of wine with every meal purchased in the Hicks Bar. For this weekend only, there will be free Brewery tours (usually £8 per person) at 3pm and 4pm each day.

Jeremy Mitchell, Marketing Director for St Austell Brewery, said: “We want local people who may not have thought about visiting the Brewery before to pop in and try us.

“People may not know that we’ve got an interactive museum, a bar serving home cooked pub food, snacks and our award-winning drinks, plus a shop selling an extensive range of St Austell goodies – all at special prices.”

The museum gives visitors the chance to learn the fascinating story of St Austell Brewery’s pubs, beers, wines and spirits and about the Cornish families who create them.

People can also walk through the Victorian Brewery, see the brewing process first hand, chat to our knowledgeable staff and learn about the secret spring that supplies the water.

The Brewery Shop sells an extensive range of St Austell wines, spirits, clothing, gifts and of course the famous bottled beers.

Locals’ Weekend coincides with a theatre company called Scary Little Girls using the visitor centre as a starting point for their treasure hunt of Cornish poetry through the streets of St Austell.

The Living Word Walks set off from the Brewery every 15 minutes between 12.15pm and 2.30pm. For more information visit http://www.staustellbrewery.co.uk/company/events/546-bring-the-streets-of-st-austell-alive.html
