Cornwall rugby pays Tribute to new sponsors

webCornwall’s county rugby team has been showing off its latest kit to celebrate a new sponsorship deal with Tribute ale.

In these pictures taken at the Seven Stars Inn, Stithians, players Aaron Penberthy, Darren Jacques and Steve Kenward model the new shirts. The new sponsorship deal cements Tribute’s position as the official beer of South West rugby.

Tribute, the flagship of regional brewer St Austell Brewery, already sponsors the South West Tribute Leagues, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset Rugby Referees Societies and a number of grass roots clubs throughout the South West.

Jeremy Mitchell, Marketing Director at St Austell Brewery said: “We are proud to have signed this deal with the Cornish rugby team, which further reinforces the link between the South West’s favourite beer and the South West’s favourite sport.”

Alan Mitchell, Hon Secretary of the Cornwall Rugby Football Union added: “The CRFU is very pleased to have gained the support of one of Cornwall’s largest employers, and in today’s economic climate, when sponsorship is difficult to obtain and most companies are tightening their purse strings, we feel very grateful for the assistance provided by St Austell Brewery, and we hope that it will be of mutual benefit to both organisations.”

The Seven Stars Inn was chosen as the location for the photos as it was previously owned by an ex-Cornwall rugby player, Roger Hosen, and is also the clubhouse for the Stithians rugby team.

Lisa Curnow, landlady of the Seven Stars Inn commented: “We were delighted to welcome the Cornwall rugby players here for the photo shoot as we are big rugby supporters ourselves, and many of our customers are either players or fans.”
