Hundreds expected to join Cornwall’s biggest zumba party

zumbaA rallying call has gone out to zumba fans across Cornwall to take part in a charity event at St Austell Brewery, aiming to be the biggest zumba session ever held in the county.
The one-off event is being held at St Austell Brewery on September 10th between 2pm and 5pm to raise money for the Children’s Hospice South West, through the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust.

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness programme and local instructor Becky Hosking will host the event.

The family zumba party costs £10 per adult and £5 per child to take part in, which includes a goody bag with a drink and other surprises, with 100% of money raised going to charity.

There will also be a raffle on the day, with prizes including a night’s bed and breakfast at the Old Custom House, Padstow; a £60 restaurant voucher for Pescadou, Padstow; a £40 voucher for the Galleon, Fowey, free MoT, surf lessons, beauty treatments and tickets for local attractions.

Anyone not wishing to take part in the zumba is welcome to attend for a donation to the charity.

The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust has raised a whopping £260,000 since it was started in 2003, with donations going to well-known charities, local good causes and individuals who need help.

Money is raised by individual pubs and employees through events such as darts tournaments, sponsored walks and quizzes, plus the annual Celtic Beer Festival in November.

The Zumba event is the idea of St Austell Brewery’s telesales team. Zoe Keast, who has played a key role in organising the day, said: “We are proud to able to support Children’s Hospice South West, a cause close to many people in Cornwall.

“The local community is at the heart of everything St Austell Brewery does and it’s important we give something back as a thank you for all the support we receive.

“Zumba is really popular so we all thought this would be a novel way to help raise cash for the children’s hospice while having fun and keeping fit at the same time.

“A great deal of effort has gone into organising this fun event and we hope as many people as possible will turn up on the day and have a go at setting a zumba record – whether you’re already a zumba fan, or it’s your first time. It’s bound to be a day to remember.”

To buy a ticket for the Zumba Party call Sarah, Michele or Zoe on 0845 241 1122 between 8.15am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday or call into the St Austell Brewery telephone sales department on Trevarthian Road.
