Brewery’s first Cornish lager launched on draught

Korev_New_pumpwebKorev, the first premium quality Cornish lager from St Austell Brewery, is now available on draught.
After a hugely successful trial in 10 pubs over the summer, the company decided to make it a permanent addition to its range.
The lager, which was almost 160 years in the making, was originally launched in bottles in July 2010 and has received excellent feedback ever since.

St Austell Brewery’s award winning head brewer Roger Ryman transferred his talent and excellence in creating cask ales to develop Korev, a high quality premium lager brewed to authentic central European standards.

He said: “We’re very proud of Korev so we’re delighted it has received the recognition it deserves and is now available on draught.

“In Korev we want to produce a premium quality, Cornish lager brewed to authentic central European standards that will compete with the best in the market and match the quality of our ales.”

Korev, which is the traditional Cornish word for beer, not only has a Cornish language name and iconic photo of Perranporth beach on its label, but it is brewed in St Austell using the finest malt from Cornish grown barley and St Austell Brewery’s own lager yeast.

The resulting product is pale, clean and crisp with a delicate taste and hint of honey aroma.

The launch of Korev follows major investment by St Austell Brewery, first in building an in-house bottling line, through the purchase of two conical fermentation vessels designed specifically to brew high quality lager and most recently, in a new kegging plant to enable Korev to be sold as a draught product.

Korev is available on draught in high quality bars and pubs across the South West.
