The Ship Inn in Looe has been awarded a top catering standards award in recognition of its commitment to offering healthy menu options cooked with the highest quality, and most fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
The prestigious Gold Level CHEFS Award means the Looe pub can now display the distinctive blue logo on its menu.
The recognised ‘badge of honour’ lets customers know that it has been recognised as maintaining a high standard of food safety and offering healthy meal options.
Fergal Bolger, Licensee at the Ship Inn, said: “We’re delighted that our food standards have been officially rewarded a Gold standard. We always pride ourselves on serving high quality pub meals made with the finest locally sourced ingredients; so it’s great to receive official recognition for this. We’re very fortunate to have a strong team in the kitchen, with Steve Jackson at the helm, so we must also thank the whole team for helping us receive the award.”
Dwayne Peace, Area Manager for St Austell Brewery, said: “The award is something we actively promote throughout our pub and hotel estate and it is great news that the Ship Inn has achieved it in recognition for its ongoing excellent food standards; and at the highest level. Congratulations indeed.”
The CHEFS Award gives customers the guarantee that a percentage of the items on the menu are sourced locally. The award has three levels: the prestigious gold award, silver and bronze.
