Olympic Gold rush fever has reached the Pandora Inn, Restronguet after the post box, which is built into the wall of the 13th Century pub, has been painted gold in tribute to sailor Ben Ainslie.
After Ben scooped Gold yesterday (Sunday 5th August) the St Austell Brewery pub discovered that Royal Mail would be painting its letterbox, as Ben first started sailing as a schoolboy at the local Sailing Club.
Inn Manager, Catherine Croft said: "Everyone at the pub was so excited when we heard that the box was going Gold. It looks great and is certainly getting a lot of attention by passing visitors. At the end of the Games, we're hoping we can say we have the most picturesque gold post box in the country."
The Pandora Inn sits right on the edge of the Restronguet Creek between Truro and Falmouth, a renowned destination for the UK sailing community.
Royal Mail has promised to paint one of its red post boxes gold every time Team GB and ParalympicsGB win a gold medal during the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
