The name commemorates Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887, although the inn actually dates from the 16th century and was formally known as The Axe. The interior has a homely, welcoming feel with its oak-beamed ceilings, blazing winter fires, and Staffordshire figurines of the queen and her consort.
