Just a 5 minute drive off the A38, the Cromwell Arms is located in the centre of Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor, the Gateway to the Moor. Offering easy access to endless countryside and attractions, it is a fantastic place from which to explore the whole region of Dartmoor, from the moors, tors and villages, to the beaches and seaside’s of Devon and the rest of the South West of England. With Exeter city centre being only 12 miles approx. in one direction and Plymouth approx. 25 miles in the other and being only 10 miles away from the sea, the location is an ideal stop over for holiday makers, a weekend break and/or a business trip. Newton Abbot is approximately 5 miles away, making us a perfect place to stay over when the race course holds its meetings and for business customers who are visiting Heathfield, we are situated very close by.

The 17th century oak beamed coaching inn is rated 4 star with the AA and is a family run establishment and having been recently refurbished, has 12 tastefully decorated and comfortable en-suite rooms. One of which is a family room that can sleep up to 6 people. Our bar and restaurant offer a great range of cask ales, draught lagers and ciders, wines and spirits, as well as an extensive menu of fresh home cooked food and daily specials to whet your appetite. We have FREE Wi-Fi throughout, a Beauty Therapy Suite if you fancy being pampered, a lawned beer garden with a pagoda and decking for those warm sunny days, two log fires to warm you on those cosy winter nights and a car park for approximately 20 cars.

So whether you are on holiday, on business or just passing through, a visit here is highly recommended.

Dogs are welcome to stay too, please telephone us in advance if you would like to bring your dog to stay, as we accommodate them in rooms nearer the garden.

We have 12 rooms, including doubles, twins & family.

All of our rooms are En-Suite, have beverage making facilities, hair dryers, flat screen Digital Colour TV's with all Free to View TV & Radio and heated towel rails in the bathroom.

If you are planning a very special event like a wedding, anniversary or birthday we can look after your event and accommodation, under one roof!

For our business customers, we serve an early breakfast from 7am Monday to Friday.

Please telephone us in advance if you would like to bring your dog to stay over, as we accommodate them in rooms nearer the garden

Please Note: We operate a smoke-free policy throughout.

If you are planning a very special event such as a  wedding, christening, birthday, anniversary or any other family gathering, we can look after you. The Cromwell Restaurant is available for private functions or private dining aswell as business meetings by arrangement, giving you and your guests an “exclusive feel”. Whether it is a 'sit down' function, a  buffet or a conference with tea/coffee & biscuits, we can and will cater for all. We are also an ideal training venue.

We  have a decking area with a pagoda in our garden, which has already being used for family celebration barbeques and buffets in the sunshine.  People just like to sit and relax looking over to the views of Dartmoor from there too.

Relax in front of one of our warm log fires and enjoy the friendly and informal atmosphere we have here at the Cromwell Arms.  We are very proud of our menu and can cater for most diets.  Please telephone beforehand if you have a speciality diet and we will endeavour to accommodate your wishes. 

In summer, indulge in long, leisurely lunches in our beer garden.

Throughout the restaurant and bar we offer Cask Marque accredited local ales from award winning St Austell Brewery. An extensive wine list features classics from our house wines to our Wines of the World.

We have disabled / wheelchair access and car park spaces.  Our staff are on hand to help customers in any way. Our toilet facilities have been fully refurbished to the highest standards including the addition of a separate disabled toilet.

In the peaceful town Bovey Tracey, on the fringe of Dartmoor National Park. Dartmoor is best known for its Tors which are large hills topped with rock formations, which can freely be explored. It's also the ideal locations for angling, kayaking and canoeing. Devon provides a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as it's home to some beautiful landscapes and picturesque towns and historic villages as well as areas of outstanding natural beauty, and ancient woodlands.

Directions: From M5 to A38 at Rumbridges roundaboat take 4th exit sign posted Bovey Tracey mini roundabout take the 2nd exit at the next roundabout and take the 3rd exit to the town centre. The Cromwell is in the middle of the town.
