The Globe is a beautiful 16th Century Coaching Inn set in the heart of Exeter’s Historic Estuary Town of Topsham. Located only 4 miles from Exeter City centre, it attracts both tourists and business travellers.

The Inn has recently undergone a major refurbishment to restore and update the historic building whilst retaining its authentic character and personal touch.


Topsham has a wonderful community, relaxed and friendly offering a perfect base to explore the area, whether by bike, foot or public transport.

The Globe has an extensive menu accompanied by daily changing specials. Where possible all ingredients are grown, reared or caught locally. All dishes are carefully prepared by our team of accomplished chefs led by our award winning Executive Head Chef, Peter Hingston.

The Elizabethan Restaurant provides the perfect place for dining throughout the day from hearty breakfasts to elegant candle-lit dinners.

The Bar area is traditionally decorated with rich textures and colours, you can sit back, relax and enjoy freshly prepared dishes, speciality coffees, fine wine and award winning St Austell Brewery Ales.

We serve food throughout the day until 9pm, but please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Topsham provides the perfect base to explore the area, whether by bike, foot or public transport. Boutique and Antique Shops in Topsham or Darts Farm and City Centre Shopping with a few minutes reach.

The museum at Topsham features the history of the town and port, including shipbuilding and ship owning, and the wildlife of the Exe Estuary. It incorporates a late 17thC house furnished in period.

Exeter combines a vibrant culture scene with the kind of atmosphere only thousands of years of history can provide. With the Cathedral, 14th century underground passageways and Roman city walls, Exeter has a rich and varied history. In the Quayside area of the city, you’ll find workshops selling furniture and glassware, for weird and wonderful goodies head to the cobbled Saxon-sized Gandy Street. The main High Street and the Princesshay shopping centre is where you will find all of the popular stores.

The nearby village of Dawlish Warren, prides itself on having one of South Devon's top family beaches. Distinctive sand dunes and an internationally recognised nature reserve add uniqueness to this European Blue Flag award winning beach. The visitor centre has a range of displays which tell you more Warren and its wildlife.

Our accommodation includes character rooms with period furnishing in the historic Inn as well as modern bedrooms in the courtyard annexe.

All rooms have recently been refurbished to a very high standard, with contemporary en-suite facilities and stylish fittings and furnishings. Facilities include television, telephone, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi internet connection.

Each of the 19 en-suite bedrooms has been tastefully refurbished, blending character with contemporary design. Bedrooms comprise contemporary en-suite, luxury Vi-Spring bed, flat-screen TV and Internet connectivity. There is a range of double and twin rooms either in the Inn or Courtyard.

Please be aware that some bedrooms above the bar and may experience some background noise when the pub is busy.

We accept dogs in our hotel rooms at a charge of £10 per night.

Parking at the Globe is very limited and we can’t guarantee spaces. The nearest car park is 100 yards away and costs £1.80 for 24 hours. If you require disabled parking please contact us before your arrival.

Our Function Room, The Malthouse can cater for up to 70 delegates theatre style or 36 delegates Board Room, alternatively for a smaller business meeting The Elizabethan Restaurant can cater for up to 12 delegates Theatre style or Board Room style.
