Ooh la la – Cornish diners will get the chance to sample the true taste of France when the The Punchbowl and Ladle, near Feock, goes Continental for one night only on Saturday January 26.

The French-themed evening at the popular pub provides an ideal opportunity for French born head chef, Olivier Wilhelm, to display his culinary skills by preparing an authentic three-course meal offering customers at taste of the wonderful cuisine from his homeland.

The menu will be prepared using locally sourced produce but for real authenticity select ingredients will come direct from France. The exquisite flavours in the food will be accompanied by the finest French wines for a true European experience.

Olivier was born in Tours, central France. He said: “I’m really looking forward to the evening and the rest of the staff are getting ready to join in the spirit of the event by dressing the pub and themselves in the colours of the French flag.

“Some of the dishes I’m planning will be regional specialities from Tours region so I’m hoping our customers will enjoy sampling the cuisine from my home region in France.”

Punchbowl and Ladle licensee Digby Rees said: “Olivier has been working for us for more than four years now and in all that time he has earned a reputation for producing fantastic traditional food using the best in Cornish produce.

“The French evening is going to be very special, allowing Olivier to demonstrate the full range of his culinary repertoire and giving customers the rare chance to sample authentic French food cooked by a genuine gourmet chef.”

The Punchbowl & Ladle is a traditional thatched pub in the quiet hamlet of Penelewey near Feock. Customers wishing to attend the French evening are being advised to book in advance by calling the pub on 01872 862237
