Popular St Austell licensee takes on the Ship Inn, Pentewan
Popular St Austell licensee Kim Barker has swapped her role as manager of the town's White Hart Hotel to take on the tenancy of the Ship Inn, at Pentewan.

Kim brings with her a wealth of experience in the trade having worked for St Austell Brewery for almost eight years across a number of its establishments. Most recently she performed a dual role as manager of the White Hart - home to the Brewery's award winning training centre - and also as manager of the St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre.

Kim said she was relishing the challenge of taking on the Ship Inn, saying: "I started off with the Brewery running a pub so I am thrilled to be taking on a tenancy again at the Ship. It's quite a step change from managing pubs and hotels to basically running your own business but it's something I'm really excited about doing again.

"It's a great opportunity and I hope to build on the success of the Ship with the help of all the existing staff that are staying on. I very much want the pub to remain a friendly and relaxed place. Pentewan is a lovely community and I am looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers."

Adam Luck, St Austell Brewery Estate Director, said: "The Ship Inn is a popular pub at the heart of Pentewan and with Kim's huge experience and enthusiasm we are sure its future is going to be one of success and growth."

The Ship Inn is an unspoiled, traditional pub with two bar areas serving the award winning range of St Austell ales. The menu offers a selection of traditional meals cooked with locally sourced ingredients and in the winter months, visitors can dine and keep warm next to the pub's open fire.

As well as the popular Sunday carvery, the Ship has recently launched a new Christmas menu and, with a separate dinning area, it is the idea seasonal party venue.

Outside, a large beer garden enjoys views over Pentewan harbour and down to the bay and the pub also includes a holiday cottage which sleeps up to six people.
