New swimming pool hoist for Vitalise Churchtown Activity Centre
The Vitalise Churchtown Activity Centre in Lanlivery has purchased a new hoist for their swimming pool thanks to a £3,500 donation from St Austell Brewery's Charitable Trust.
The hoist is a vital piece of equipment for the centre, with over 40 local people using the pools facilities on a weekly basis.
The new hoist, which is ceiling mounted, is able to carry more weight than the previous and allows access to the pool for children and adults of all abilities.
Churchtown Fundraiser Mick Ryan said: "The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust has made a significant donation towards the new hoist. We could'nt have purchased the new equipment without the kind donations and funding received from the Brewery's Charitable Trust and other organisations. We thank everyone who has supported us."
Piers Thompson, St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust Chairman said: "Over the years the trust has been a great supporter of the work that Vitalise Churchtown does. We are delighted to be able to help with this great new facility in a way that will deliver a real benefit to disabled people from the area".
Vitalise Churchtown in Lanlivery is an accessible residential activity centre providing respite breaks and Day Services for children and adults with physical, sensory and learning difficulties.
The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust was set up to act independently to the brewery with the aim of raising and donating funds to good causes and local charities within the St Austell Brewery trading area, which covers the whole of Cornwall and also includes Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
Since its launch in 2003 the Trust has donated more than £148,000 to charitable causes across the region. Much of the hard work has been carried out by Brewery staff, pub licensees and customers who have given up their free time to stage various fundraising events.
