Three St Austell brewery pubs in line for pub of the year award
Three St Austell Brewery pubs have been shortlisted for the ‘Pub of the Year' award in the annual Cornwall Tourism Awards.  Now in their sixth year, the Cornwall Tourism Awards celebrate quality in the Cornish tourism industry, recognising and rewarding businesses that demonstrate excellence in their field.

The three St Austell Brewery pubs competing for the much coveted title are; 5 Degrees West in Falmouth; The Golden Lion Inn in Menherion, Redruth; and The Norway Inn at Perranarworthal.

Jeremy Mitchell, Head of Marketing at St Austell Brewery, said: "We pride ourselves in offering a great service and atmosphere in all our pubs, and we are delighted to be in a position where three of our pubs are in the final three.  It really goes to show that our pub landlords are doing an outstanding job in delivering excellent customer service and quality food and drink.

"We are really looking forward to the award ceremony on November 22nd and raising a glass to our winning pub."

St Austell Brewery pubs have fared very well at the award ceremony over the years, winning the Pub of the Year Category for the past three years running.  Reigning champion, The Hewas Inn, at Sticker near St.Austell won the award last year in recognition of the pub‘s warm welcome, great food and drink and the way it makes the most of local produce.

Penny Woodman of Visit Cornwall, organisers of the Cornwall Tourism Awards, said: "The 2007 Cornwall Tourism Awards received a record number of entries at an exceptionally high standard.  The pub of the year category was particularly hotly contested and hard to judge, so the three shortlisted pubs really deserve to be in the final three."
