1972 is a showcase traditional English Bitter with a difference, celebrating Mervyn Westaway, our Trade Quality Brewer, who has been with us for nearly 45 years and knows more about our beers than anyone!

English Cara, Crystal and Maris Otter Pale malts provide the perfect base to this beautifully balanced, dark amber brew and what else would you find in an English bitter but quintessentially British Goldings hops?

The addition of Mervyn’s favourite Galaxy hops add a whole new dimension to this fabulous brew, bringing a fruity twist to both the taste and the aroma and giving it a truly unique character - just like Mervyn himself!

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask.
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
