HELPING OTHERS ACROSS THE SOUTH WEST

Our remit is to support local charities, good causes and individuals in need across the Brewery’s primary trading area of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.
The Charitable Trust is funded by contributions from St Austell Brewery plus donations and fundraising events held by St Austell Brewery employees, pub tenants and Free Trade customers.

Over the years, fundraising events have included a trek up Kilimanjaro, ale tastings, quiz nights, race nights, coffee mornings and many more.

Helping Others across the South West

One of the biggest fundraisers is the annual Celtic Beer Festival, held each year in late November in the vaults beneath the Brewery. The festival has raised in excess of £170,000 for the Trust.

The Donations Committee is made up of a group of volunteers drawn from across the Company providing a varied and fair-minded opinion on every request received. The Trust meets bi-monthly and new requests are discussed and financial support agreed. The Donations Committee’s decisions are then put to the Trustees, which is made up of the Brewery’s Senior Management Team, who provide feedback and support.

Charities supported by the Trust include Macmillan Cancer Support, CHICKS, Foodbank, Canine Partners, Cornwall air Ambulance, RNLI, FareShare South West, HFT Independent Living, Children’s Hospice South West, Dogs for the Deaf, FLEET, Enable, Adult Hospices across the region, Cornwall Blind Association and Phoenix Stroke Appeal. 

Approximately a third of all money raised is donated to individuals and small local groups within our community. The Trust has been privileged to provide assistance including specialist computer equipment, mobility equipment as well as respite and care breaks.
