More than 30 of our managed pubs in Cornwall and Devon are set to raise funds, which include asking customers tucking into a fish meal to add a donation to the charity over the Fish Supper weekend which this year runs from October 13th – 15th.
Campaigns like Fish Supper raise vital funds for the RNLI’s lifesaving work. In 2015 alone, lifeboat crews saved 348 lives and rescued 7,973 people, with 8,228 lifeboat launches. RNLI lifeguards patrol over 220 UK and Channel Island beaches and are trained to spot danger and respond in seconds when something goes wrong. In 2015, RNLI lifeguards saved 94 lives, handled 15,714 beach incidents, and helped 18,181 people.
The RNLI also has seven well trained and fully equipped Flood Rescue Teams, ready to respond to floods or fast-moving flood water anywhere in the UK or Republic of Ireland within six hours. These crews and lifeguards depend on the support of a huge community of generous volunteers who give up their time to support the lifesaving work.
Our Estate Director Adam Luck commented, “We were delighted to be on board with the Fish Supper again this year. Based in the Westcountry, we are all very aware of the invaluable job performed by the men and women of the RNLI – 24/7 – keeping our coastline and those who use it safe. From surf watch to ocean rescue, we salute them all and always look forward to raising funds with Jack to add to the RNLI coffers over the Fish Supper weekend and beyond.”
