Giving back to our communities this Christmas
Giving back to our communities this Christmas...

We’ve donated £25,000 to important causes in our local communities, just in time for Christmas. A total of £20,000 has been given to foodbanks - near our breweries in St Austell and Bath - and £5,000 to NHS Charities Together. We’ve made the donations through our Charitable Trust, which supports the work of local charities and good causes across the West Country.

Our Charitable Trust is funded by contributions from teams across St Austell Brewery, as well as donations from our customers and fundraising events held in our head offices, depots and pubs. Since it was launched in 2003, it’s enabled us to donate over £800,000 to charities and causes across the region.

The Trust is donating £10,000 each to St Austell Foodbank and The Genesis Trust - which operates Bath Foodbank - to help them supply food to those in need. To thank key workers, we’re also donating to NHS Charities Together which represents, supports and champions the work of official NHS charities in the South West and beyond.

Our Chief Executive, Kevin Georgel and company directors have volunteered at St Austell Foodbank in recent weeks, helping to pack up and distribute food bundles in the run up to Christmas.

Piers Thompson, Chairman of St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust said: “We’re delighted to be giving something back this Christmas, to help where we can and to say an enormous thank you to those who do so much for our local communities.

“This year has been hard for so many people and we want to do all we can to help those who need it most. For us, it’s been particularly inspiring to help out our local foodbanks. It was an honour to work shoulder to shoulder with the amazing volunteers who do so much throughout the year, to improve the lives of those in their communities who have fallen on tough times.”

Jon Langford, St Austell Food Bank Manager said: “It’s been so good to receive assistance - both practically and financially - from St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust! In this exceptionally tough year, as a primarily volunteer-led organisation, we have been so humbled by the generosity of local people, businesses, churches, and organisations. To have this level of support from our local brewery has been truly wonderful.”

Nick Mayo, CEO of The Genesis Trust in Bath said: “We are so grateful for the donation from St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust. 2020 certainly hasn’t turned out as any of us imagined but at the Genesis Trust, we are managing to navigate our way through the pandemic. With such generous support from local businesses, we can continue to help some of the most vulnerable, marginalised people and families in our local community.”
