Bombay Steamer

Brewed by Lee Walker, from our electrical engineering team, the spark of inspiration for this dark and delightful beer are the original East India Porters of the 1850s, traditionally brewed to keep the lower army ranks happy while the officers got the Pale!

A robust beer developed to survive the long journey to the East this deep, dark porter has a strong bitterness imparted by the classic English Goldings Hops which would have featured heavily in such beers back in the day.

Lee was joined by our very own Bombay dynamo, Lorella Jacinto from Marketing when the brew was created, using Maris Otter, Crystal T50, Dark Crystal, Brown and Black malts to help create the complex palate of flavours at the base of this classy old-time favourite.

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask.
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
