Cornish 80/- - 4.2%

Cornish 80/- is brewed by Mark Heamen, our longest serving master of the mash tun with over 29 years experience firmly under his belt. Mark loves darker beers and his previous brews include Chocolate Orange Stout and Malt Monster. Cornish brewed but Scottish in style, 80/- is so named due to the traditional Scottish beer duty levels. Stronger ales incurred greater duty, so the stronger the ale, the higher the ‘shilling’. 80s were traditionally very malty, with very little hop aroma alongside a clean and neutral finish. Our Cornish 80/- combines Maris Otter, Dark Munich, Crystal and Carafa barley malts with a single hit of English Goldings to accentuate that super clean, neutral bitterness.

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask.
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
