GORSE-ED 4.8% abv

Brewed by Grant Coles, one of our Brewing Shift Leaders, Gorse-ed started life at the 2014 Celtic Beer Festival, under the name Goss Moor Best. Having proven popular, Grant tweaked the recipe to feature in Season One of the Small Batch Beer Club.

Grant has been with us for eight years, starting life in the cask yard before progressing through the yeast room to the brewhouse.

The use of gorse flowers gives the beer its coconut aromas and the chocolate malt gives this beer a milk chocolate colour. Sorachi Ace hops, originally from Japan but now mostly grown in the USA, enhance the coconut and chocolate aromas perfectly.

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask.
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
