Heather Ale

Brewed by Tom Wallace, who has moved from selling our ale in the Brewery Visitor Centre to making it in the Small Batch Brewery, Heather Ale is a classic, amber English ale with added Cornish heather. As part of our Eden-Inspired range, the bonny heather was picked by Tom, his wife and children at the Eden Project and added to the brew.
As a traditional English ale, you’d expect to see nothing less than Fuggles hops on the ingredients list, while the addition of the newer hedgerow hop Endeavour adds extra fruitiness to the brew.
Beautifully amber in the glass, the mix of Maris Otter and Crystal malts brings about a delicate bitter-sweet balance allowing the aroma and taste of the heather to cut through the more traditional earthy flavour of the ale.

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask.
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
