Hops & Heritage 4.5%

Brewer Mike Notley selected the hops for Hops & Heritage on the 6th September at Pridewood Farm in Herefordshire, brewed the beer the very next day ready for the Small Batch Beer Club on 17th September! Brewed with Cara and Heritage Chevallier malt, a mainstay of English barley in the 19th century and an ancestor of many modern varieties, Chevallier has made a comeback thanks to an increased interest in heritage malts. It has an aroma of crackers and biscuits with a full flavour.
English Fuggles and BramlingCross hops were added to provide a bitter base, then 75kgs of fresh green hops were added post-boil and, because they had not been dried, Mike used ten times more than the usual amount of hops.

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask.
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
