St Austell Steam - 4.7%

Crisp like a lager and full-bodied like an ale, this California Common is a beer that celebrates differences and is brewed in the style of steam beers that were popular in California during the gold-rush.

It’s made from eight different types of malt – Maris Otter and Cornish Gold for a solid biscuit crunch and backbone; Wheat, Dextrin and Oats for flavour; Crystal and Amber for colour, texture plus aroma and Acidulated malt.

Traditionally brewed with soft water, like the water we have at St Austell, this beer uses Acidulated malt to correct the pH balance, rather than salts that would harden the water.

The beer is gently hopped with traditional Northern Brewer and Magnum for bittering and Willamette for blackcurrant, soft fruit flavours and aroma.

St Austell cask ales, in line with the vast majority of other cask ales produced in the UK, are clarified by the addition of isinglass finings to the beer in the cask. 
As isinglass finings are derived from fish collagen, cask ales are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
