The Visitor Centre is open 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday) for you to enjoy. Take a guided tour through the museum, see the brewing process in action and tuck into traditional pub dishes in the historical Hicks Bar. Of course, a visit to the centre wouldn't be complete with a pint of one of our award-winning pints.

The centre is open 9am - 5:00pm, with the Hicks Bar serving food from 11:30am to 4pm.

By Rail/Bus: The Brewery and Visitor Centre is a short 5-minute walk uphill from St Austell’s main rail and bus station. For more information on rail services visit First Great Western, and for more information on bus services visit First Group.

By Car: Our full address is Visitor Centre, St Austell Brewery Co Ltd, 63 Trevarthian Road, St Austell, Cornwall, PL25 4BY which, when entered into a satnav, will lead you directly to the site. Upon reaching St Austell, you'll also see brown tourist signs directing you to the brewery.

By Taxi: For accessible, local bookings call either Gary's Taxi's 01726 879045 or Star Cars 01726 66636 (foldable chairs only).

We have ample parking on-site, available free of charge for visitors. We also have 2 disabled parking spaces which are clearly signed, along with 2 x 7kW chargers for electric vehicles.

Please note that while we strive to ensure the brewery site can be enjoyed by every visitor, our brewery tours aren’t accessible to all. This is due to the brewery being a Grade I listed building with narrow entrances and staircases that can’t be modified. If you have accessibility requirements, please let us know when booking a tour – we’ll do our best to accommodate you and adapt the tour where possible.

The entrance to the Visitor Centre is via a concrete staircase, consisting of 8 steps with 2 handrails. Visitors who are unable to, or would prefer to not use this staircase, may use the wooden ramp as an alternative. There is a lift to the first floor (can hold 10 people or one wheelchair user with two others), which is accessible via a walkway – the lift has sliding doors and is suitable for wheelchair users.

Please be aware there is background music in both the restaurant and shop areas. The Museum area is exclusively lit by LED Display lighting and therefore, some areas have reduced light levels.

There is a heavy glass door separating the Museum from the Restaurant – staff can help on request, please ask as you pass through the entrance area. The interactive brewing experience is a guided tour, suitable for those with disabilities and children. We encourage visitors to touch objects that are not cased in the Museum. Interpretation boards are in large text and, where applicable, we have pictorial representation. There are articles held in glass cabinets (most are upright) and some of these may not be visible if the eye line is below 115cm.

If the Fire Alarm is activated there is also a red strobe light that will flash to indicate this.

In the restaurant and café area, tables are well spaced apart with a clear height from the floor of 700mm/28ins (average height) – there is a mixture of upright chairs, with and without arms, along with some soft furnished seating. We ask guests to order at the bar, however, staff can assist on request. There is a low counter bar in the area.

Specials of the day are shown on a blackboard. All staff can assist by running through menus with you. We do our best to cater for any dietary requirements – please contact us in advance to check any specific requests.

Crockery is colour contrasted with the table where possible.

There are public toilets located on the second floor, within the Museum area. There is an accessible unisex toilet, not locked with a RADAR, and is described as below:

  • A light, easy-open door 743mm/29.31ins wide
  • 753mm/29.6ins transfer space to the left when facing the toilet
  • The toilet height is 484mm/19.1ins
  • There are vertical rails on either side of both basin and toilet
  • There is a horizontal rail on the sidewall adjacent to the toilet
  • Toilet and washbasins are white
  • An emergency alarm pull cord
  • The toilets are well lit with fluorescent tube overhead lighting
  • The flooring is non-slip laminate
  • There is a lever tap on the sinks
