Our teams go above and beyond during Storm Goretti

Storm Goretti winds saw incredible displays of teamwork, both at our Cornwall-based pubs and at our brewery in St Austell.

At the Chain Locker, the team immediately stepped in to support Falmouth residents and boat owners (as well as a few liveaboard dogs) when they were suddenly displaced by the severity of the storm. With very few options available across the town, the team were straight on the case offering warmth, hot drinks and overnight shelter for those who needed it.

General Manager James Bailey later received a letter of thanks from the CEO of Falmouth Harbour, Miles Carden, praising the team’s kindness, quick action and generosity during what was a very challenging night for the local community.

He said: “These situations are challenging for everyone involved and your willingness to step in and help when people had few other realistic choices made a real difference.”

At St Austell Brewery, our late‑shift production team stayed on into the night to keep essential work on track and ensure colleagues didn’t need to travel during the red weather warning.

Thank you to everyone involved – both in our business and beyond – for supporting Cornish communities when it mattered most.
