Raising a Glass to Cornwall Rugby’s Historic Twickenham Double

We were delighted to welcome players from Cornwall's men's and women's county rugby teams to our Visitor Centre last week, where they brought along both championship trophies following a remarkable season for Cornish rugby.

We were delighted to welcome players from Cornwall’s men’s and women’s county rugby teams to our Visitor Centre last week, where they brought along both championship trophies following a remarkable season for Cornish rugby.

The visit marked a proud moment for everyone at St Austell Brewery, as Cornwall celebrated a historic double success at Twickenham.

As long-standing partners of the Cornwall Rugby Football Union (CRFU) through our flagship beer, Tribute Pale Ale, we’ve been supporting rugby across the county for more than 14 years. From grassroots participation to county-level competition, the partnership helps strengthen the game at every level, with the Tribute logo proudly displayed on the shirts of Cornwall’s men’s and women’s county teams.

Tribute also features on the Cornwall Under-20s men’s team kit. The squad enjoyed an impressive campaign this season, reaching the national quarter-finals and continuing to demonstrate the strength of rugby talent emerging across the county. Together, the achievements of Cornwall’s men’s, women’s and Under-20s teams highlight a thriving future for the sport in Cornwall.

Earlier this month, Cornwall’s men’s team secured their eighth County Championship title with a 39–24 victory over Lancashire, lifting the prestigious Bill Beaumont Cup for the first time since 2022.

The women’s team also made history, defeating Durham to win the Gill Burns Women’s Division 2 title during their debut appearance at England’s national rugby stadium.

To celebrate these incredible achievements, we welcomed women’s captain Megan Arnold and vice-captain Amy Warman, alongside Dean Wills from the men’s team, to our Visitor Centre. Members of the public were invited to meet the players, take photos and see both trophies up close.

Our commitment to rugby extends beyond county-level sponsorship. In addition to supporting the CRFU, Tribute Pale Ale has backed the South West Rugby Football Union and local rugby leagues across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset for almost two decades.

As Cornwall reflects on an outstanding season, we’re proud to have played a small part in supporting the players, clubs and communities that make rugby such an important part of life in the South West.
