Sustainability: Celebrating partnerships that matter

Partnerships power our progress. From local suppliers to pub operators, we know we’re stronger when we work together. We don’t compete on climate; we collaborate for impact. This pillar focuses on building meaningful, lasting relationships that create shared value. Our four priorities are supply chain management, charitable giving, business partners, and our food and beverage offering.

    CRAFTING PARTNERSHIPS THAT MATTER

Partnerships power our progress. From local suppliers to pub operators, we know we’re stronger when we work together. We don’t compete on climate – we collaborate for impact. This pillar focuses on building meaningful, lasting relationships that create shared value. Our four priorities are supply chain management, charitable giving, business partners and our food and beverage offering.

    Supply chain management

    Why

We’re committed to ensuring that the rights of people, animals and communities across our supply chain are respected. This priority focuses on the social side of sourcing – fair working conditions, labour practices and wellbeing – while supporting local businesses and reducing our footprint.

    Mission critical goal

To advance the transition to a net-zero food and drink system, we will work in partnership with our customers and suppliers, engage our broader stakeholders and create cross-industry collaboration opportunities to advocate for change.

    Highlights

    ·       We partner with South West suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint and support our local economy

    ·       Our exclusive collaboration with Trewithen Dairy highlights our commitment to regenerative farming

    ·       Our Cornish Barley Partnership (since 2002) revitalises Maris Otter barley in Cornwall

    ·       We build and nurture long-term relationships with local farmers supplying ~1,500 tonnes annually for key beers

    Charitable giving

    Why

We want our communities to thrive with us. By working closely with our Charitable Trust, we focus our fundraising and volunteering where it makes the biggest impact across the South West.

    Mission critical goal

Our presence in the South West will contribute to making it a better place for everyone. Starting where the need and opportunity are greatest, we will establish community impact plans at each of our locations, aimed at generating significant and positive outcomes in the communities we serve.

    Highlights

    ·       Charitable Trust Impact: we have raised over £1.2M since 2003; £145K+ in 2024 alone

    ·       2024 Donations: £95K+ given to causes such as youth mental health and air ambulance services

    ·       Celtic Beer Festival: over £200K raised since launch; £20K in 2024 return post pandemic

    ·       Charity Gala: 2024 silent auction raised £47K

    ·       Sponsored walks: raised £20K in 2023 for Cancer Research UK and Only a Pavement Away; 2024–25 walks supported Heart of the Community campaign (defibrillator installations)

    Business Partners

    Why

Our 123 business partners play a key role in our sustainability journey. By supporting them to cut emissions and create social value in their communities, we reduce our Scope 3 impact and grow our positive reach.

    Mission critical goal

We will engage with all our business partners to cascade our impact beyond our own operations, offering support where it is needed. We will develop a Sustainable Partner Charter to which all business partners will align.

    Actions

    ·       This year, we will work with our business partners to define a baseline for current action and support those who are keen to improve their sustainability credentials.

    Food and beverage offering

    Why

We’re evolving our food and drink to support both health and the planet. With a focus on nutrition, responsible consumption and low-alcohol options, we’ll innovate and share our journey to help customers make informed choices.

    Mission critical goal

We’ll facilitate responsible consumption by brewing ‘low and no’ options which will be available across our entire estate. Moreover, we will design our menus with affordability, health and sustainability at front of mind. We will actively innovate to continuously improve our guests’ access to nutrition and choice.

    Highlights

    ·       Responsible consumption: we launched Proper Job 0.5% IPA in Oct 2024 after 2+ years of R&D. PJ0.5 won silver at the World Alcohol-Free Awards 2025

    ·       Healthy and sustainable diets: our new food strategy is in development and will focus on HFSS (high fat, salt, sugar), seasonality and local sourcing
